Q1How are the intrinsic and extrinsic clotting pathways activated?▸
  • Intimal tear -> exposed collagen -> activates the intrinsic pathway
  • Damage of vessels -> exposes extravascular tissue -> activates the extrinsic pathway
Q2How do LMWH/heparin work?▸
  • Activate antithrombin 3
  • Antithrombin 3 inhibits factor 2 and factor 10
